9/22/24 Rocky Road is now in care of Quailwings Rescue. If you would like to donate to his care, Venmo @Quailwings-Rescue 1042.
His left front leg will need to be amputated to the shoulder. He will need treated for a bone infection plus other infections throughout his body. We will update as his care continues. Please send prayers for Rocky Road, his vet and staff, his foster and his rescue team. May God Bless this dog who has been in this condition for a month.
9/23/24 Rocky Road has made it to Choteau. He is septic, has a broken jaw, bone infection and needs an amputation. The vet has him hooked up with feeding tube, pain management, fluids, antibiotics to build him up for surgery tomorrow. Donation can be made to East Slope Veterinary Clinic, 406-466-3020. Please say Rocky Road Donation. Quailwings Rescue, 214 4th Avenue NW, Cut Bank MT 59427. @Quailwings-Rescue 1042.
9/24/24 Rocky Road is not strong enough for surgery at this time. He needs built up with more antibiotics. He is covered in fleas. Surgery will not happen until next week.
UPDATE: 3:50 p.m. Rocky Road is a 9 month old Anatolian Shepherd currently weighing 28#. To lift his spirits, he was taken outside for some sun. He is a happy pup. He was able to go pee, but still hasn't pooed. He is doing better with canned food (most likely because of his jaw). He will be on antibiotics building his body up to fight the infections. Surgery will be when he is strong enough to tolerate it. He is being treated for fleas.
9/25/24 Rocky Road is doing better with eating today. The flea treatment is helping with his discomfort from flea bites. He is moving his bowels and urinating. He was allowed in the sun again today and did better with walking. He is building strength, which is what he needs to have for surgery.
9/26/24 I was able to visit with Rocky Road and feed him some treats that were sent to the rescue for him. He loved them! Today was the first day that he barked. He greeted me barking and wagging his tail. He was only on the ground. His stump is still bleeding as it drains the poisons out. The fleas are driving him crazy. He is on day 2 of Bravecto. Rocky has been dewormed. Yesterday, he was able to walk around the vet clinic, a first for him. He is alert, happy and would love to be out and about, but is limited by his strength. Rocky is gaining the strength that he needs for surgery. Again, it will be when his body is ready. Next subject, costs run about $60 a day. He has special food to help him gain weight. Thank you to all who have donated to Rocky Road's care. We and Rocky appreciate all the monetary donations, donations and prayers.
9/27/24 We are on a hold for the weekend. The vet will re-evaluate Rocky Road to see if he is strong enough and if the bacteria has been killed by antibiotics. He has developed a cough. Please continue to pray for him.
9/28/24 Sorry for not keeping up with the updates. We lost the internet for four days and were not able to log in.
10/1/24 Rocky Road had surgery to remove the remaining stub of his leg and was neutered at the same time. Surgery went well. Rocky was recovering well.
10/3/24 Rocky Road came home to the foster and is adjusting to life inside in the warmth. He is living with cats and dogs and is doing terrific.
10/6/24 Rocky Road is a 9 month old Tricolored Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix. He was ran over by his owners who abandoned over 6 weeks ago without medical care or even feeding him. As a result, his left front leg was amputated. After he is fully recovered, he is scheduled to be adopted. DOB 12/23/23 Adoption Pending
Thank you to all of the donors for Rocky's medical care. We and Rocky appreciate your support.
